News: What Changed in GLP-1 and Peptide Care, and When

Written by Transparent Peptide research desk·Published 2026-07-30·Last reviewed 2026-08-04·Methodology
This page is maintained. Prices are re-read at source and dated; evidence is checked against the published trial. Newest across the site: news · research · corrections.

A dated log of what changed in this market. 10 items, newest August 4, 2026. Every entry names its source; where a figure has been withdrawn, the corrections log says so.

Updated as sources change, not on a schedule.

· Editorial

We have withdrawn a named medical reviewer credit from every page on this site

The credit appeared in 112 bylines and 24 structured-data blocks. Both were removed together, and the change is published rather than made silently.

· Pricing

The approved oral semaglutide tablet is $149 at starter doses and $299 at maintenance

The manufacturer's own price guide sets two tiers. The $149 rate on the 4 mg dose ends 31 August 2026.

· Regulatory

Canada has approved generic semaglutide. The US wall holds to at least 2032

The foundational patent expired 20 March 2026 in four markets and lapsed in Canada, which approved its first two generics in April and May.

· Safety

BPC-157 is on the FDA's Category 2 bulks list. It is still widely sold

Category 2 identifies substances raising significant safety risks, which may not be used in 503A compounding. BPC-157 has no human efficacy trials.

· Evidence

Two-thirds of lost weight returned within a year of stopping, and that reframes every price comparison

The STEP-1 extension and SURMOUNT-4 both report regain on withdrawal. If treatment is ongoing, annual maintenance cost is the figure that matters.

· Guide

Five free databases settle whether a provider is what it says. All five need one thing first

State board registers, FDA warning letters, the 503B list and openFDA recalls are searchable by company name — so a provider that will not name its pharmacy has ended the conversation.

· Pricing

Four pricing structures separate an advertised GLP-1 figure from what lands on your card

Membership fees outside the headline, dose tiers, introductory rates and prepay-only pricing. They stack, and all four are visible if you ask four questions.

· Safety

GLP-1s slow gastric emptying, and a standard pre-operative fast may not empty the stomach

Anaesthesia guidance exists because case reports described residual gastric contents after adequate fasting. It applies to compounded products too.

· Pricing

Two approved generic GLP-1s exist, and both are liraglutide

A generic referencing Victoza was approved in December 2024 and one referencing Saxenda in August 2025. It is the cheapest approved route and the least effective.

· Safety

Tesamorelin is approved for one indication, and almost none of its marketing describes that population

Egrifta is approved for excess visceral abdominal fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Not general fat loss, body recomposition or anti-ageing.
